We all have words of
wisdom that keep us calm when we're stressed or nervous about being in the
spotlight. Your quinceañera day only lasts for 24 hours, and I don't want you
to waste a second worrying about any silly stuff! So here are the lessons to
learn now and remember on your big day:
You
spend months planning for one special day, your quinceañera. You take care of
your hair, skin, nails, teeth, and diet. When the day arrives, stop worrying so much about the way you look and just be
natural! Be yourself and live in the moment.
Remember to
give meaning to your quince by making it memorable for everyone. It's a special
day for your family too. During the celebration, ask your guests how they are
enjoying themselves. Thank them again in person for being there with you.
If on the day of your
quince, your best friend, who is so excited to be your dama, calls you in a panic because she woke up with a zit of
volcanic proportions in the middle of her forehead (or some other disaster), be
kind to her. Don't make it about yourself. Say something like, "Daisy,
I know it sucks, but I love you, and all that matters is that you be there. Don't
worry about it, we'll have fun."
If somebody makes you a regalo and you don't like it or you don't need it, don't hide it or
re-give it. Try to wear it or use it at least once to make them feel good, even
if you hide it after that.
Be mindful of
your reactions when you notice a small detail is off, for instance, if the cake table doesn't
have the tablecloth that you picked out. Everyone, especially your family, really
wants you to be happy and to have a good time. If you overreact to something,
you might ruin it for them, which in turn will ruin it for you.
Be flexible and
open-minded when you are shopping for things for your party. This is the real
key to saving time and money. Consider what is more important to you: Can you settle
with something that gets the job done and saves you money, even if it's not
so-called perfect? In the end, what matters is how much you enjoy planning
your party, not just the end result.
If by the time
your day comes around, you notice that you gained a little weight, don't
get hysterical and try to change the party date. It's more important to
remember WHO you are first, and that doesn't change based on the scale.
If you have to choose a
gift for your damas, don't be obsessed with giving them an expensive item or
the most popular brand to impress them. Get something that has thought behind
it.
Finally, for
your quince and always, be meek and simple. Always consider other people's
feelings. The most important things in life are the things that come of the
heart. If you have that attitude, you'll have more happiness in life than you
ever imagined.
