The memories of your quinceañera are very important, because it's a day that you'll never relive. One way to guarantee that your memories last forever is to put disposable cameras on each table (here are pretty ones from Uniquely Quince; they cost $7.50 each if you order a bunch). To make sure everyone uses them, ask your court to work the room and strike funny poses with guests.

As far as a professional photographer goes, if you know a girl who recently celebrated her quince, ask if she'd recommend her photographer. (The cost for a photographer is $1,500 to $2,000 for an average of eight hours. Packages vary from albums included to only some prints. And extra prints may cost additional.) When you meet a photographer, here’s what to ask and look for:

• Ask for their portfolio. Do their pictures have a magazine style? Do they show the details of the quinceañera's dress? How is the lighting?
• Ask them how many quinceañeras they've photographed. Do they have references you can call?
• Test their creativity. Ask them where they would photograph you and your court before the party. Do they know which parks/public places in your community provide a good backdrop?
• Evaluate their personality. Are they asking you for your input? A good photographer is not only talented, but also responds to feedback and requests well.
• Discuss terms of payment. Do not pay them all the money up front. A deposit should not be more than 50 percent. (Everything is negotiable. Feel free to bargain. Remind them that you have a small budget and that it's not a wedding.)
