The last thing you need to worry about the night before your quinceañera is some upper-lip fuzz or underarm hair showing in your pictures! Follow our guide to be smooth as silk, from head to toe.

SHAVE:
Shaving is the most common and cheapest way to get rid of hair fast.
Plus: You can easily get rid of large amounts of hair, like on your legs.
Minus: Hair grows back within one to three days.
For Best Results:

  • Don’t shave until you’ve been in the shower for a bit. The water will soften hairs, making it easier to remove.
  • Apply a thick shaving cream (try Skintimate Moisturizing Shaving Cream) so you can see where you need to run your razor.
  • Use a steady hand to lightly remove hair. Pressing down hard will only get you nicks!
  • Shave upward, starting at your ankle, and slide the razor all the way to your knee. Rinse the blade between strokes to get rid of excess shaving cream and hair. Finish by rinsing legs thoroughly.
  • If you get razor burn, apply a 1 percent hydrocortisone cream to the area. It will soothe and calm the skin before it goes haywire.

  • WAX:
Waxing is the best way to keep hair away for a long time.
Plus: Results usually last three to four weeks.
Minus: The ouch factor! It feels like ripping off a giant Band-Aid.
    For Best Results:

  • Waxing is best done by professionals who know how to maneuver the wax, especially on small, delicate areas like your eyebrows.
  • If you want to try an easier spot, like your arms or chin area, try Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Strips. Warm up the strips between your hands and then press onto your skin. Hold the skin tightly and pull away in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  • If the idea of waxing still scares you, start with teen-friendly wax strips. Nair now makes Pretty Glitter Wax Strips ($4.99) for the face and bikini area that smell like green apples! The glitter is just for fun — it won't come off on your skin.

  • CREAMS:
Depilatories are chemical creams that dissolve hair.
Plus: Results last about four to five days.
Minus: Be careful if you have sensitive skin. The chemicals can easily irritate your pores.
    For Best Results:

  • To apply the depilatory, smooth on a thick, even layer to cover hair (try Nair Sensitive Formula Gel Cream for Body hair remover). Do not rub it in, and wash your hands immediately after application.
  • Let the depilatory get working for about three minutes, and then check a small area for hair removal. If the hair does not wipe off easily after three minutes, leave the cream on a few minutes longer.
  • Don’t keep the cream on for longer than 10 minutes. You could get serious bumps! Gently wipe off the gel cream and hair with a damp washcloth. Once all hair has been removed, rinse your skin thoroughly and pat dry.
